A Chilling Scenario
Remembering Felicia Dorothea Heman's epic poem
"Casabianca"
(The boy stood on the burning deck whence all but him had fled)

McCain surveys the burning wreck,
    whence Bushie II has fled,
With Bushie's final "What the heck…"
    resounding in his head.

But as McCain is well aware,
    despite what he has said,
Jail time does not a hero make
nor has the life he led.

His many indiscretions and
    the five aircraft he lost
Should make us wonder how much must
    a self-styled hero cost.

Remember how hard Bushie's tried
    to replicate McCains,
Imprisoning Iraqis with
    Guantanamo's choke chains,

Plus waterboarding Bush ordained
    as John Yoo's clever touch
To generate the moans and groans
    that Bushie likes so much.

McCain in McNamara's Band,
    had bombed the Vietnamese,
Bombing like the Bush-Al Qaedas
    he calls detainees.

Though all were caught and thrown in jail,
    it seems that only one
Has been declared a hero and
    not someone we should shun.

Of course Lou Dobbs and Limbaugh don't
    buy Bushie's John McCains,
Though having more would fuel their own
    Neanderthal campaigns,

They still denounce the so-called "hero",
    finding him disloyal,
While wishing Vietnam had boiled
    that first McCain in oil.

As will those Independents who
    all voted for McCain,
When Hillary refused to fold
    Mark Penn's poll-fueled campaign.
