A Last Laugh
(Will there be one?)

Who'll get the last laugh? Are you sure there'll be one?
Will somebody laughing have signaled a win?
What are the odds for the climate change scientists
Versus global warming deniers who are doing us in?

Will in-the-ground leaks of Alberta's bitumen
Stymie the Exxons, the BPs and Shells
From extracting their billions of barrels of tar.
And delivering it to their Keystone XLs?
Will environmentalists enjoy a hardy har har?

Or will Big Oil finally figure it out?
Can they show Mother Nature that they have enough clout
To extract and deliver their bitumen and tar
So Exxon, BP, and Shell indulge in a hardy har har?

While submerging D.C. in a gawdawful mess,
As well as their subservient quid pro quo Congress,
Of rising sea waters mixed with Alberta tar,
Drowning out Tillerson's hardy har har.
