A New Premier
(A new slate in Alberta?)

Will Alison Redford attempt to rein in
The unplanned oil expansion Alberta's now got,
Thanks to the "no foot on the brakes" policies of her two predecessors
That multinational oil firms and executives bought?

Will she raise their royalties to where they should be
And stop giving away bitumen, fresh water and natural gas?
Is she prepared for the oil industry whining
When they hear of the new tax laws she needs to pass?

The dip in oil prices wouldn't be hurting as much
If the royalties charged by Stelmach and Klein
Had been as high as they should have been.
Why do you suppose they gave in to the Oil Mafia whine?

Where are they now with their cohorts in crime?
Still making a tidy sum now that they're gone?
Leaving Alison short of the cash that she needs
For the humanitarian projects Albertans are counting upon.
