Would ALEC dare brag if we knew who they were? Well, perhaps to a few that they need to impress. Yet ALEC's not secret. It's just not very well-known. It's under the radar of our political press That pays more attention to the Ryans and Trumps. It would seem bigger egos get much bigger headlines. Though Grover owns Congress, Grover keeps a low profile. He remembers how Jack Abramoff misread the signs. So though liberals complain that the House won't raise taxes And that state legislatures hate one man, one vote, What we have been much too slow to acknowledge: It's ALEC and Grover that we need to showboat. They're controlling the puppets who are taking the shots, Pushing the kind of laws that these guys want, So it's very shortsighted to duel with the peons When the problem's not with them but with each commandant. Why bother with Boehner and Ryan who can't help it? They're only doing what they've sworn to do. Ditto with Daniels, Snyder, Corbett and Walker. They simply sign what it is that they're told to.
