My Friends – II
Old Mac's changing views on staying in Iraq

My Friends:
I wish we aged heroes were
Equipped to be much cleverer
Each time we find we must resort
To flim-flam-flimming to abort
Views that we no longer should remember.

My Friends:
I'm at a loss for what to say.
They've said they don't want us to stay.
You've heard me promise that we wouldn't
Should they decide they thought we shouldn't,
A view we're hoping no one will remember.

My Friends:
This doesn't bode that well for me
Because my views orig'nally,
Through an egregious twist of fate,
Oppose what I have said of late,
New views Dick Cheney warns me to remember.
