One Son's Military Saga
Reviewing McCain's military experience(s)
singing to Rodgers & Hammerstein"s "Honey Bun" from South Pacific
(One hundred and one pounds of fun)

Verse
McCain is hardly straight as an arrow.
His "straight-talk" role has proven to be flawed.
He's anti-Darwin but pro-Clarence Darrow,
And Bushie's still a messenger from God.

Chorus
One hundred and one storys spun
About a future Admiral's son
With medals "earned" for each and ev'ry one.

Should Annapolis flunk The Son?
That's not how our Navy's run.
Instead they passed him hoping that he might

Pressure someone else to let him fly,
Knowing that the fool was always high,
That squadron pools would bet on his crash site.

His hair is not as curly.
And though few find him burly,
    His lies are pips,
But not his hips whose stiffness makes him surly.

Corpus Christi – first kersplash –
Should have settled Sonny's hash,
But no one dares wash out an Admiral's son.

Med cruise – flew low over Spain.
Power lines, meet John McCain.
A second plane lost by that son of a gun.

Destination: Army-Navy game.
Engine trouble – What a shame,
Parachuting saved McCain but not the plane.

    The Navy faced cost overruns
With three planes lost by the Admiral's son"s.
    Three one-way trips –
Make sure he ships out thinking he's Top Gun!

War in Nam, but will he serve?
Or like Cheney, lack the nerve?
Can't back out if you're The Admiral's Son.

So charge one to the Viet Cong;
One to the flight deck's near swan song;
And the other three to Mrs. John McCain.

    His collaborating stank:
More than number, name and rank.
    Jailers needed steno pad –
Sonny's bad, so why won't Daddy spank?

Cindy's bet the Admiral's son
Soon will be our Number One.
If not, she says she's done with Honey Bun,

Who'll need flight pay past seventy-one
Unless he pilots Air Force One
While a cautious press corps charters its own plane.
