Tribal Practices Differ
(But apparently only slightly in some Red States)

Is the Libyan uprising that we're helping with
A fight for democracy or a fierce tribal feud?
Tribal practices dictate they must "rule or die":
"When we're in control, we will make sure you're screwed."

Should we be surprised when that is the doctrine
Of Republican governors in their first terms
Who're sticking it to their perceived opposition.
Why create jobs? That's a big can of worms

When their feud's against unions and working-class voters.
Corporations whose taxes they've cut may have the cash
To finance campaigns. But if they can't buy the votes,
A disgruntled public could settle their hash.

Unemployed voters won't quickly forget
Which politicians they need to repay.
Revenge will be sweet when they seek reelection,
Though Tomahawks aren't used in the U.S. of A.
