Alberto McFuzz
Remembering Dr. Seuss's story
"Gertrude McFuzz"
(There once was a girl-bird named Gertrude McFuzz...)

"Mistakes were made here but no way did I make 'em
My forté's evadin'. You want answers? I fake 'em.
Admit I've been wrong? Hey, show me my medal.
Otherwise don't expect me to back pedal."

Oh, such brave words from Alberto McFuzz
Surely the fuzziest ever there was.
Criminal actions like torture and spyin',
Augmented by repeated Congressional lyin',
Are a daily occurrence for Senor MacFuzz
Who mimics whatever his president does.

But why would a bird like Alberto McFuzz
Be made Chief of whatever a Chief of Fuzz does?
Could there be something more than that weak resumé?
Had he gotten a twin in a family way?
Or did Scrambled Dregs Bushie need a semi-Hispanic?
Like someone satanic to spice its Titanic?

Someone to serve at his president's pleasure,
To make the effect of his lies tough to measure,
Who'd look like a weasel saying weasely things,
A small bird who'd fall if it flapped its own wings,
A bird who like Gertrude had a one feather tale,
"How could I know? Like I'm tending the jail?"

When Delilah said, "All ninety-three ought to go,"
He was "responsible." So how would he know
That Sampson, his Chief of Staff, said to go slow?
He had far more important concerns on his mind,
Like protecting and pleasuring Bushie's behind.

"Mistakes were made here but no way did I make 'em
My forté's evadin'. You want answers? I fake 'em.
Admit I've been wrong? Hey, show me my medal.
Otherwise don't expect me to back pedal."

Like an old stick of gum when the flavor is gone,
Once the pleasure wears out, it's tough to hang on.
