What Are We Scared Of?
Remembering Dr. Seuss's story
"What Was I Scared Of?"
(Well... I was walking in the night and I saw nothing scary...)

Though Georgie claims he's very brave
And not real scared of Cheney,
He says what has him most concerned
Still happens when it's rainy.

Puppets powered by strings run risks
Of twisted lines and such,
Which explains why Dick and George
Never use strings, very much…

Hand puppets on the other hand
Aren't bothered with those things,
But can you guess what most miss most?
The privacy of strings!

So though he's not afraid of Dick,
George hopes you understand
He's never been that wild about
Dick's wet and clammy hand.

Nor has wearing pale green pants
Seemed to help a bit.
When Dick's around, it's still real hard
For Georgie boy to sit.

In fact the pale green pants, it seems,
Bring out the worst in Dick
So Georgie tends to tighten up
When Dickie starts his shtick.

Does that mean the DNA
Of Dickie's diff'rent daughter
Couldn't possibly have come
From who they claim begot her?

Lest we sound Ann-Coulterish
The problem with these bums,
As Georgie privately concedes,
Is Dickie's been all thumbs.
